Republican Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate on Monday sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., urging her to respect Iowa’s bipartisan recount process and state-certified election results declaring U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, the winner of Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.

The Committee on House Administration is considering a challenge from Democrat Rita Hart, who is contesting the state-certified results that place Miller-Meeks as the winner by just six votes out of nearly 400,000 cast in the race.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has announced new resources to assist individuals with past felony convictions who have had their voting rights restored. Pate’s office designed a new voter registration form that was unanimously approved by the state’s bipartisan Voter Registration Commission on Friday.

The new form clarifies that Iowans with felony convictions can register to vote once their rights are restored by the Governor, including by Executive Order. The old form remains valid for voter registration.

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate was unanimously elected President of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) during the organization’s summer conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Voters in Iowa have made history, with more than 2 million residents being registered to vote heading into a general election year.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Voters in Iowa have made history, with more than 2 million residents being registered to vote heading into a general election year.

By Monday, December 2, there were 2,014,226 Iowans registered to vote, according to Iowa Secretary of State Paul D. Pate.

The number is a record in its own rite, but isn’t an all-time high. The highest recorded number of registered voters in Iowa was back in January of 2017, with 2,045,864.

Incumbent Paul Pate defeated Democratic opponent Deidre DeJear for a spot as the chief executive of Iowa elections.

On Tuesday, Paul Pate was re-elected to his position as Iowa’s secretary of state. Pate beat opponent Democrat Deidre DeJear 52.86 percent to 44.74 percent, with all counties reporting results.

The Secretary of State’s Office oversees Iowa elections and acts as a record-keeper for businesses.

Although Pate was behind for the first half of the race, he wasn’t nervous.
